2024 Top Ten: New Releases

It is always fun this time of year to reflect on the previous 12 months and look forward to what is coming in the new year. Especially in Breyer land because we have a month of Breyerfest reveals to look forward to! I put together my personal top ten favorites list of 2024 new releases to look back on what I thought was a particularly great year of models. Tell me yours in the comments!

Honorable Mention: April Fools Blind Bag Stablemates

This was one of my favorite moments of the year - the April Fools joke that Breyer made mini-me stablemates of some of the most infamously bizarre and unpopular paint jobs. It was going to be tragic because they are actually epic but then Breyer surprised us again by actually releasing them! This was also a personally lucky moment where I bought four blind bags and actually received one of each - no trading required.

Number Ten: Auryn

This one is a somewhat unexpected entrant in to the top ten since I don't really collect unicorns. However, I love purple and gold together and I love the classic rearing stallion so I knew as soon as I saw the reveal of this guy in the Collector's Club tent at Breyerfest that I had to have him! He did not disappoint and makes in to the list.

Number Nine: Salvino

I wasn't sure how I felt about Salvino being released again as a regular run after being the event model at Ponies and Palm Trees on the Salinero mold. But I do also love Totilas and this shade of bay with two hind socks is pretty much my favorite horse color. It is enough to put him at number nine on my list! I cannot WAIT for him to come out in glossy - fingers crossed he will be in the CCA event and not a Breyerfest prize model.

Number Eight: Heath

This guy was teased last year and did not disappoint! Wintersong/Othello is a fan favorite and this roany sabino paint job looks great on him. I know the pearl accents are not for everyone but I love the pearly mane and tail too. The masking is fantastically intricate and crisp on this model and the quality was high on this release. I also love that he has a sort of mini-me in the deluxe club stablemate this year.

Number Seven: Newport

I am a big collector of polo ponies so I was so excited to see this little guy in the club previews last year. I played polo for a little bit in college and I just love these talented horses. Breyer did a beautiful job with the roached mane and tied up tail and the head tuck! I can't wait to see more on this new version of this mold - but they started out with my favorite color again so he's already a top favorite and that puts him at number seven on my list.

Number Six: Brandell

I'm a big fan of clearware models and the representation of the fire element on the mustang works so well. I was worried about finding one when I saw he was one of the chase pieces but I lucked in to finding one at my local hobby shop. I love the whole elements set of these, but Brandell is by far my favorite.

Number Five: Always Chipper

Picking my favorites of Breyerfest 2024 was TOUGH. This was the first year in awhile where I wanted to get just about everything because it was something I conga or just a really fantastic model! There were literally only two I wasn't interested in. Chipper was one at the top of the list and I looked through a LOT of them in the two Breyerfest stores to pick out this one. Almost all of them were flat dark black but this one was much lighter with some great shading and perfect masking too.

Number Four: Ideal Series Pony of the Americas

I'm a big fan of the Nikolas mold and the appaloosa color and pattern on this one is so nice. I haven't been collecting this series because the larger quarter horse isn't my favorite, so I was excited for the slight departure this year by doing the POA. I think this is the best color the have done on this mold so far and once again I am very impressed but the quality of paint work for a regular run.

Number Three: Hot Cocoa

No surprise this cutie sold out this year. I absolutely love this little mold (I could have picked three of them this year for my top ten list) and this adorable dark chocolate appaloosa color looks great. The pearl mane and tail work so well here again, especially for that extra holiday glitz.

Number Two: This is My Fight Song

Coming in at number two is another Breyerfest model, this time the new rearing Spanish horse. I didn't love the original appaloosa color from the premier collection release and I wasn't sure about the base but Breyer surprised us with the baseless version and I absolutely love him this way! Also this color and pattern is stunning on him - I was very pleased to pull this one from the special run line.

Number One: Zayn

You had me at Maureen Love and glossy bay! The classic scale Maureen Love sculptures are among my most favorite of all time so I have been so happy to see them back in recent years after being discontinued for much of the 2000s. All three Zayn colors were gorgeous but the glossy bay takes the cake for me. Sometimes the simplest color is all you need (and a coat of gloss never hurts!)
