A Little Restoration Work

I am warming up for NaMoPaiMo with a little restoration work today. I picked up this little gal on eBay recently - even though I already have two really nice chalky clydesdale foals, she was only $8 and I like to have a nice selection of chalkies in my Breyerfest room sales so I don't mind picking up duplicates.
I should know better by now than to think I will be able to part with them that easily LOL. This girl showed up and she is NICE - really stunning dark shading and color. Probably the nicest one I've ever seen, minus a few condition issues as you can see. My other two are pretty sentimental to me though so it looks like I might have three of them now.
Since I've also been digging out my paints and brushes to get ready for NaMo, I thought today was a good day to give her a little fix-up. I love restoring vintage models, especially my chalkies. It is so satisfying to see them all fixed up! The nice thing about the 70s models is they're mostly "out of the tube" colors so you don't even have to go too crazy with mixing. Here I've got some Raw Sienna and Brown Iron Oxide as well as a middle ground craft paint called "autumn brown" plus black and white. They're all acrylics so they dry almost instantly and you can also wash them right off if you make a mistake.
Here's my new herd member all fixed up
We are working on a lego set so my usual photo booth is not up, but once I get that back up I'll have to take some glamour shots of her with my other two so you can see how different they all are. I think I'm up to eight of these original clydesdale foals of different variations - maybe they'll get a post all about just them. This is one of my favorite vintage molds!
I also not my NaMo body all prepped and primed so I'm ready to go for Feb 1! I think this is the best priming job I've ever done so I'm excited to get started. For color I'm sticking with my comfort zone and doing an appaloosa. The added incentive from Stone to actually finish should help keep me motivated too. We shall see!
