Another Secret Glowy

Since I was a kid I've always loved things that glow in the dark. I used to have glow in the dark stars all over my bedroom and I loved all things that glowed after the lights were out. I was then so excited when Breyer first started releasing models made from glow in the dark plastic! The glow in the dark keychain andalusian given out at Breyerfest in 2003 was an instant favorite and Merry Widow that followed for Halloween that year is also still one of my all time favorite models.

A funny consequence though over the years has been random other Breyer models that glow in the dark! Presumably made from leftover batches of plastic from the Halloween models, collectors have occasionally been surprised to walk in to their collection rooms and find glowing horses. At first it was mostly stablemates but in recent years there have been a ton of models that secretly glow. Some of the coolest ones appear to be made with a mix of glow and regular plastic so they glow like a galaxy when the lights go off.

This past year it all kind of culminated at Breyerfest when many people discovered that their Athenian Lady model glows! This led to hobbyists everywhere taking out their black light flashights and unearthing a ton of other models that also glow! It seems like most of the Breyerfest SRs this year have some glow in them - especially, along with Athenian Lady, it seems many of the single day SMs also glow. Another run from 2024 that turns out to glow in the dark is the Premier model Llewellyn!

So combining my love of data collection, Breyer oddities and variations, and all things glow in the dark, of course I had to start keeping track of all of them and collecting them where I can find them! So I recently took my black light to my latest acquisitions and add another one to the list - it's Annika! My mare Freya does not glow but Annika lights right up.

I have seen reports that Nor'easter glows too although I haven't bought one myself yet.

I need to organize my list (right now it's just random jotting down of models people have that glow) but then I'll publish it on here somewhere and keep a list of known glowies along with my known chalkies list! Seeking out hidden glowy models is a nice accompaniment to my chalky obsession.
