Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all! I can't believe it is here already.

We had just a dusting of snow this morning - perfect for some atmospheric photos and festive spirit, but not so much as to cause a travel nightmare for those who have to head out. I bought this moose thinking he might be chalky from the photos. He wasn't, but he was the perfect model for today and he borrowed Mouse's hat to add that extra touch of magic.

By now I'm sure everyone has seen the Christmas surprise from Breyer - the Fell Pony! I think that's the perfect choice. My favorite is the red one - very fiery and I think it suits the big hair. Of course I love coal too - glossy is always my favorite and it looks great on the black. Blue seems to be the broad favorite from what I've seen on social media.

They made 3,025 pieces this year with 24 coal, so 1000 each of the other colors. Everyone is wondering what about that extra 1?! I like the theory that it is the one extra coal that lives in the Breyer archive room - although I've never thought they counted their archive piece as part of the official run. Usually they retain the samples... so perhaps one of the 3 regular colors has one extra piece?

This follows the trend of increased run numbers this year. Last year Wassail had four colors (plus coal) at only 650 per color for 2,624 total.

As of this morning they are still available for purchase to club members. They are $135 each with free shipping. I think it's great they added to the run size so they don't sell out in mere minutes and most everyone who wants one can get one. It has historically been a tough balance to find. I also appreciate that they have moved it up a few days so they don't release them on the actual holiday!
