It feels like we are at a little bit of an inflection point. Since the beginning of the year I have been seeing a lot more rare models listed for sale across the platforms. More recently, and more concerningly, I've started to see a lot more "I'm in financial trouble, must sell" sales posts. Is the tide really starting to turn and how will the secondhand (and of course primary) markets do for the rest of the year? So far those sellers do still appear to be selling their models at good prices, so the buyers are still out there too.
Consumer sentiment hit an almost all time low last week but, similarly to our little microcosm, there hasn't been too much of an actual pull back in spending. Yet.
It is going to be very interesting to see how BreyerFest plays out this year - both in terms of ticket and SR sales and for room sales/secondary sales. Last year it felt like fewer people were buying and prices were a little bit lower (for things that actually sold) so I will be interested to see if that trend continues. It will also be interesting to see if the retail prices are up yet by then and how well sales will be going for new models.
Meanwhile over on eBay

This lot of vintage Copenhagens was snapped right up at this price - which is a steal for all three. The Fighting Stallion could probably fetch that price all by himself. They look to be in amazing condition with great pinking. You see a ton more vintage decorators for sale these days but it's still always exciting to me to see them pop up, especially ones as nice as this.

This vintage gold charm running mare also sold for $2000 - she also looks to be very nice, still shiny gold, and also nice pinking. All else being equal, the gold charm color is generally the least popular of the four original colors and the running mare is generally the least popular of the five original molds, so it is nice to see her bringing this price.

This super cool FAS came up last week - he appears to have missed getting his appaloosa spots and some of the final finishing touches. What a great find! I can't tell for sure but it also doesn't look like he has the Breyer stamp which makes him a very early piece and even more special. No surprise he went for almost $1000. Very cool bit of Breyer history.

I meant to bid on this one but forgot! The last one I need for my own set, the dapple grey Arabain stallion is the hardest to find of the original 1975/76 dapple grey G1 stablemates. This one was in amazing condition! They all usually sell for $75+ so this one ended up about where I would expect for such a nice one.
Over on Amazon, new model prices are off of the lows from a couple weeks ago during the big spring sale but still much lower than they were at the beginning of the year. This week's buy is Neptune, the decorator unicorn on the Esprit mold, at $41. His official retail price is $60 and that's 32% off and the lowest I've seen him anywhere.
