Monday Markets: Apr 28 2025

Oh wow I missed a whole week of posting! I spent most of the week prepping for Are You Kitten Me 2025, for which I will have a recap this week. Such a fun time!

But it is Monday again so it's time to look at sales and prices!

This week will be May 1 so I am keeping a close eye on new model prices. Will Breyer raise the prices on their website immediately? Will we see prices go up at other retailers? They have already started to tick upwards on Amazon, but they are still a bit below the price on the Breyer site and prices for 2024 and earlier releases are still well below where they were at the beginning of the year.

Although prices in general are up, Battlefield Angel is still on the limited time deal of $38.30 and the pick of the week this week is Zorah Belle. She's also on a limited time deal at $31.10. I absolutely love this mold and I have a complete conga so far. She is a great show model! I handpicked mine for color at Breyerfest in 2023 but I still think I might do better - I've seen some that are very chalky looking, which is of course my favorite!

During the week Legend also went back down very briefly to $31 and I nearly bought another one. He's back at $42 again today. Weirdly he bounces around a lot.

The Breyer Collector's Club Newsletter also came out and they sneak peeked something glossy - so it looks like Collectors Club Appreciation is still on for May! Last year it was released on May 8th so keep your eye out over the next couple of weeks. The sneak preview appears to be something black and interestingly most of the black or mostly black models have already been released as glossies either through previous CCAs or as prize models. Some people are speculating the glossies could be the "Breyer Breeds" web exclusives. It's not a bad guess - they do seem to have a ton of them leftover since they've been included in the grab bags and warehouse sales for years now. There's a black Man O War among them that could be a possibility.

Personally I'm hoping one of the options is Kansas and Ethel - I would love to get that set in gloss! The other one could be Obsidian the Brishen unicorn. There's also an outside chance it is the 75th Anniverary models but I personally think that's a longshot. They have barely been in stock as it is in matte - especially the Iberian. I look forward to finding out! I love a glossy!

The Gambler's Choice classic was also released this week. It's on the classic Wahoo King/Roping mold and for the first time since this series started it ISN'T a mold I collect - phew! The paint jobs are as always phenomenal though and the $35 price point ($50ish with tax and shipping, although if you get 2 or more shipping is free) is very reasonable for such nice paint work and gloss. So far it has not sold out.

I didn't have too much on my eBay watchlist this week but here are a few things

I just can't stop following Old Timer variations and I thought this guy was really cool with his very high white socks. An interesting counterpoint to my no-sock guy. He was also surprisingly low for a dapple grey with a hat - the hat by itself can go for $35-40 and usually you see the complete sets more in the $75-100 range.

I have also been on a Running Mare kick lately (and I'm always all about the foal) so I loved seeing this pair. They were sold as mix-and-match so you often see the Alabaster and Smoke paired as a set instead of the matching colors. These two are so nice and especially with the stickers

This old-pattern Misty is the actually slightly more rare "3-eye" version. The earlier "4-eye" variation has a white circle around the left eye. This version eventually transitioned in to the ubiquitous Misty pattern that we know today. This one has some condition issues with some rubs and mildew, but still sold well at $217.50

A Mudflap sold for a Best Offer of $2000

A Thrillseeker sold for $1800, showing the Connoisseur market is still very hot. That is the highest price for one in the last 3 years and way up from the two that sold last year, which were a mere $795 and $671.
