It was a relatively quiet week on eBay but a rarities bonanza in the Rare Model Horse Sales Facebook group! The admins were back from a well deserved vacation and apparently there were quite a few pent up rarities to be sold (or at least offered). I don't think I can post screenshots here since that is a private group BUT needless to say it's worth joining even if you just like to window shop. Some highlights:

An incredibly rare Adios, the Longhorn-Potts chestnut from 1987 came up for sale. Only a handful are even known to exist and he's a beauty! He closed at $3100 - a well deserved price. I have a personal moratorium on most rarities from the peak shrinky era of 1987-1992 otherwise I would have been right in there with the bidding (this one showed no signs of shrinkiness, I'm just paranoid after losing even a few of my favorite RRs - I'd be devastated to lose a rarity to it).

An amazing woodgrain walking angus bull from the William Ciofani collection was up for offers - not only is he an incredibly rare woodgrain, but he has a one of a kind bald face and the Ciofani history makes him a really special piece. He had offers up for $5000 but the reserve was not met.

Two different Breyerfest auction models were also listed for sale - the glossy bay dapple Croi from last year and the glossy black tobiano Mangalarga from 2017. I don't think either one has sold yet, but it's always unusual to see Breyerfest auction pieces back up for sale!

Definitely worth joining the group if you're in to rarities and you have a FB account. There are some amazing auctions still live, including a mini Bourbon Street and a one or two (or very few) Presentation Misty!

Over on eBay a few interesting things. This Stud Spider is turning out to be quite a rarity. I don't have a Costco membership and I am still kicking myself for not making more of an effort to find him at the time! I also didn't want to truck and trailer so I wasn't super motivated - but we didn't realize they would be so hard to find. He was a BIN and I think he might have gone higher at auction.

The seller who had my stickered shetland pony also had this guy listed - I was tempted for sure, but I've been cutting back on my family arabs. He's a beauty though and FAS is my favorite of the three.

Another woodgrain with a Tenite sticker this week! I think this was a very reasonable price too. If I didn't already have one like him I would have been all over it.

The only other notable on the high end of the market was an Ozark at $2200. There were only 52 made of this one.

There was some good news for Stone Horses collectors this week too! They will now be listing their Best Offer models on Model Horse Place for the entire week and not just over the weekends, so you can always be sure to find the latest offerings no matter what day you head over there, but don't forget Tuesday is still the day they end if you want to make a bid.

They've also made a welcome change to the Design A Horse procedure - now when the DAH opens at the beginning of each month all you have to do it buy the body you want and then you can take some time designing the options with them afterwards instead of the mad chaotic rush to try to choose every color and option before they sell out. I haven't bought a DAH since they launched the design process on the website (and I had bought about a bazillion of them in the before times of the mid 2010s) so I'm pretty excited about it! I nearly picked up a Mule this time around because I still would like a traditional one for my collection but I'm going to hold out and see what other options may appear this year.
