New Releases!

If you're a Breyer dapple grey fan, this has been a banner year so far! The first Collector's Club special run of the year is out and it's Maddox - the dapple grey Akhal Teke that was previewed last year. He's a nice bookend to Prague, the first web special lottery special run of the year!

I was lucky enough to be selected for Prague (woohoo!) and he arrived yesterday. I conga Salinero and I loooove this color, especially in glossy, so I was really hoping I'd get picked! It's good news/bad news though. He is absolutely gorgeous - I love this shade of medium dapple grey and the dapples are beautifully done, just prominent enough without being "chicken wire" that sometimes takes away from the effect.

The bad news for me is that mine has some big rubs on the off side. Ugh. Mostly scuffs in the gloss but a couple of spots where it goes through the paint. It's hard to tell if it's factory or if it happened in shipping - they still aren't "fluffing" the brown paper wrapping, so it's basically just a sheet of paper sitting around the model. You generally can't get replacement models on the web specials and it's not enough for me to do a return - his display side is great so I can probably live with it. If I happen across another nice one for sale, maybe at Breyerfest, I might upgrade eventually.

It's hard to capture in photos with the gloss glare but you can see it a bit on his flank.

I also conga the Akhal Teke, Adamek, against my better judgement (I keep trying to avoid the long bois who do not fit on my shelves, but alas). He also looks like a beautiful shade of dapple grey so he was a yes for me. A lot of people are grumbling about the price increase to $90 but since Breyer appears to be building in "free shipping" to all the club models this year - it is actually basically the same all in cost as last year's models. Last year Heath was $75 + $14.50 shipping, so $89.50 all in. I wonder if this is a psychology effect they are trying or if there is some other sort of tax benefit to offering "free shipping" and instead building it in to the price of the model. Either way, functionally, we the end consumer are paying the same price.

I also added on Radiance and the 75th anniversary pint glass as ride alongs. The in hand pictures of Radiance are absolutely stunning so I can't wait to get her too!

I was kicking myself because then Breyer announced a super bowl weekend 10% off sale on new in stock models (and double for CC members) - could have saved $6 XD - I thought I would take the opportunity to get Riptide, but it seems the code does not apply to him. Even though the e-mail says "all in stock, regular line" the fine print says "select in stock, regular line" - sneaky. But anyway I am hoping they have a bunch of him at Breyerfest so I can handpick one. It does apply to Cloud and that is tempting... I don't collect Desatado but he looks chalky from the in hand pictures I've seen and Cloud is such a nostalgia horse for me. I admit I was surprised to see them putting 2025 models on sale so quickly.
