Unboxing: 2024 Tractor Supply Special Runs

The past few years I've been impressed with the Breyer TSC special runs but wow, this year they really hit it out of the park! I conga the Clydesdale, Roxy, the classic Mesteno mare and Halflinger foal, Adios, and Lonesome Glory (casually) - so I was doomed this year.

Dude. What have I done?! Good thing tomorrow is recycling day.

I also conga Big Ben so it was a good opportunity to hand pick this year's holiday horse (as much as you can with the costume on) and get one on sale. He hasn't been super popular (and there have been plenty of bay Big Ben releases) so I wouldn't be surprised to find him even cheaper in the future, but $42 is pretty good.

I don't have a local TSC that is especially convenient so I don't get there very often - however I was out of the special treat my real horse likes and the SRs were down to 30% off so the time was now! Someone beat me to the FFA Clydesdale and Bugaboo, but luckily they were still available online so I ordered them too.

Peyton

When he was first announced I thought he was essentially a re-release of Old Bob but the brand, the white markings, and the mane stripes do make him distinct (although still pretty similar). He's gorgeous - I love that hint of metallic on a chestnut just like the real ones.

Lydia

Such a beautiful glowing shade of palomino on this one and I'm always partial to appaloosas. My store had two of these and the masking on the other one was a little smudgy but this one was nice and crisp. Unfortunately I lost the box rubs lottery as you can see :( Still, I think she will look lovely next to my Paparazzi.

Big Blue

I couldn't resist the cute tiny cow ornament last year but this is the first traditional I have from the FFA series. This is my favorite of this year's SRs - I absolutely love this dark blue denim pattern with the gold accents on the Clydesdale Stallion. 10/10

Bugaboo

The theme this year is definitely echoes of past models. I love the micro run Diana from Breyerfest 2019 and I thought Bugaboo was very reminiscent of her but in a much more affordable form - so I was excited to get this one. She has the banded mane and mid-length tail - my favorite combo on her!

Mustang Family

I bought this set primarily for the foal but the mare & stallion are also very nice. I love this color on the Mesteno mare. My store also had 2 of these sets but the foal in the other set had one of my number one pet peeves - where the paint color is brighter than the bare plastic markings so it looks weird. I should have snapped a photo, but you know it when you see it. Luckily this one doesn't have that. I also normally don't care for this style of bay roan but it actually looks very nice on the stallion and he went from likely sales pile to keeper, at least for now.

Apres Ski

Continuing the twinning theme - if it wasn't for the white tail this beauty would be Molokai Redux. He's surprisingly "plain" for a holiday horse especially since this mold has seen a few bays, but the paint job is very nice and I love Big Ben! This one isn't a Tractor Supply exclusive but they do have one of the best prices on him currently - I think only Farm & Fleet is lower. But as I said above there's a good chance he goes on a bigger clearance after the holidays if you are still waiting it out.

Some collectors have noticed there are two versions of the costume one with the snowy glitter and one without. The snow looks super cute but let me tell you it is shedding everywhere! Ugh! Also some people have complained the smushed nose is particularly bad on this run but this one I have isn't too bad and not much different than the rest of my conga. But I've seen some that are pretty noticeable

As of this writing, I don't believe any of these have sold out yet. If you are looking for any of them you can still get them off the website and/or check availability at your local store(s)! https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/brand/Breyer?isIntSrch=written&srch=Breyer

Question: What do you keep off the boxes if anything these days? I used to cut out the info cards when they were on the back but now the entire back of the box is the description - so I've been tossing the whole thing. Hopefully future me doesn't regret that. Do you save any of it?
