I'm trying to be in decluttering mode but I couldn't pass up a few of the deals in the end of year warehouse sale. Stack on the 10% off CC discount and free shipping and it was even better. Since we didn't yet know what was in the grab bags and my prior experiences had been that they were decent but I got a lot of duplicates of things I already had, I decided to build my own grab bag and I I got all these beauties for just over $100! That ended up being 53% off retail and all on models I was looking to add to the collection (well, almost, more on that below)

First up is Encore and Tor. I conga Gilen/Heartbreaker and thought for sure I already had this set but when I looked through my shelves I did not see them. The price was such a steal for these two, well below even body price, that I figured even if they turned up later it was worth it. The foal is pretty much just solid black so no need for handpicking really - although this one is very nice because it doesn't have overly large eyewhites, which is a personal preference for me.
I don't collect Saige so the mare will be headed to my BF sales pile, but the color is really beautiful. I love the pearly metallic finish. It's almost enough to convince me to keep her, but I have to keep reminding myself I am out of space! Interestingly they have VINs from 2022 so this set has been hanging around the warehouse for awhile.

Next on the list was the classic Spanish Mustang Family. Similarly with this set I only collect the foal mold so I especially like a good sale when I only want part of the set. Unfortunately I discovered after I placed my order that I had actually already bought this foal, OOPS - so I'm not going to unbox these and will likely donate them to a live show. I don't particularly feel the need to handpick this one either since they are all pretty orange and probably won't make the show string over my other colors on this mold. It's another sign I really need to get my inventory catalog up to date.
I then picked up this Stablemates Foal Surprise set. One of my goals this year is to reevaluate my Stablemates congas because I have way too many going and want to focus on my true favorites. These two adults molds will definitely make the list though and since I didn't have these yet I decided now was the time. This little foal mold is also a favorite. This is a great set!

I wasn't smitten with Mittens (haha) initially when she was released, but then when I started to see the in hand photos without the blanket I changed my opinion. The color and pattern is really nice on this vintage mold and definitely high quality. Just look at that eye detail! In my opinion she's a Breyerfest or Collector Club quality special run at a regular run price. I almost bought her a few times but glad I waited because this was the best sale I've seen.
Lastly Spectre. He hasn't been the most popular guy and they have had what seems like quite a few still leftover for years. That is fairly unusual for a Halloween model because it's a very popular series in general. I do think they also must have upped the quantity made - 2023 seemed to me to have a lot of models with bumped up production runs. I was a culprit too. I casually collect the Halloween series but he wasn't my favorite either so I didn't buy one at retail. However, for under $25 I was in! I do love Glow In The Dark models and his ghostly pattern suits him.
I thought at that price they might finally sell out but it looks like they are still available on the website (back up to $40 though). It will be interesting to see how long they last. I'm also watching this past year's Halloween model, who is also still available but didn't go on quite as steep a discount. There was some controversy around his pattern but the Mustang is a much more popular mold, but again I think the quantity made must also be up from past years. I definitely will not be getting this coming year's model - I can totally appreciate the art and I love Bobby Jo but I do not like spiders At All and she's just a little tooooo creepy for me.
Overall I'm very happy with my "personal grab bag" of warehouse sale models.
I'm with you on this year's Halloween model. I absolutely cannot with a spider that big and that detailed. Merry Widow and Eek are both fine for me, but this was a hard nope. - Nancy K
