Just when I thought I was done buying new models for the year, Breyer announced their collectors club 30% off sale and lured me right in. Many other collectors pointed out on social media that that put the new web exclusive Freya & Annika set down to $52.50 from $75 and that was enough to make me grab them too. I don't go out of my way to conga Marabella or Amber but if the right opportunity presents itself I do like them. The colors and patterns on this pair are so nice and the masking is very crisp throughout. The special drawstring bag they come in is a really nice touch. They are well worth the retail price, but even better on sale!

Another interesting note is that Freya and Annika came in bubble wrap and not the paper wrappers that special runs have been coming in this year. Is this a change or a relic?
I also took the opportunity (free shipping too, let's go!) to pick up a few other models I needed for my primary congas.
I probably looked at 100 Salvinos at Breyerfest last year and didn't pick one out, so chances weren't great that the random one I ordered would be "the one" but also for $33 it was worth the shot - and let's be real, I have more than enough warmbloods to show so if I don't find the ultimate live show winner it isn't that big a deal, as much as I enjoy always finding the very best one I can. I feel pretty good if I can find any current RR traditionals for under $40.

The color and shading on this one is actually lovely, but he does have some flaws that would keep him out of the show ring. I'll probably still unbox him and try to clean it off/touch it up.

This was also the perfect opportunity to get Zulu the 2024 fall decorator. I love Newsworthy and metallic decos and zebras so I knew I'd be getting one. Holding off until the holiday sales worked out this year since he was still available. He's gorgeous in person.

I thought I was done but... that Wild and Free set... it was already marked down as part of the 12 Days of Christmas sales and with the extra 30% off it was just over $10. I conga the classic mustang and although I had already bought a set last year (or was it the year before?) at TSC, I wasn't happy when I discovered he was one of the ones with the giant serial number. I'm planning to do a dedicated blog post on that topic. But anyway I figured for that price let me get a non-serial-numbered one! I'm so glad I did - the set I received is stunning - look at this shading (left) compared to my TSC guy (right)!

I don't collect the frolic foal so he will end up in my Breyerfest sales pile.
